On Saturday May 17th May 2014, luxury lifestyle boutique Poosh hosted a “Champagne Afternoon Tea” in Victoria Island, Lagos, to celebrate the launch of its Resort 2014 collection and introduction of two new brands at its store.

The brands introduced include Re Bahia and Jewel by Lisa‘s “Pretty Precious” children wear. The collection features a variety of exotic pieces, from intricate yet flattering swimwear, to whimsical flowing kaftans and cover-ups.

It’s Monday, let’s give you something to debate on.

On this edition of BN Pick Your Fave, we have two style stars rocking the same outfit by Italian-Nigerian design label Niquara Couture from its debut collection.

The two ladies are media personality Toke Makinwa and model Makida Moka. The piece features a blue satin long sleeve blouse and flared skirt.

Makida Moka
The model was first to rock the outfit at the Gidi Up season 2 premiere on Saturday 21st June 2014 at The Palms, Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, Lekki, Lagos.

Makida who also modelled the collection, accessorized with a statement necklace, a gold wrist watch and a pair of navy-and-light blue heels. She opted for a long braided ponytail, smokey eyes, and light pink lipstick.

Toke Makinwa
The “Toke Moments” vlog star wore the piece on Saturday 12th July 2014 at the Miliki Private Lounge for the Fashpa Day Out.

Unlike Makida, Toke didn’t fold her sleeves or tuck-in. She styled it with grey drop earrings and matching necklace, an orange bag and black heels.

Her wavy locks and light pink lipstick finished the look.

The pieces from this Joan Ibuzor creative also have an inspiration from flowers with the colourful blooms and a military essence. The tie-dye adds a tropical and ethnic effect tying it to an urban undertone. The key colours used are orange, gold, purple, white and black.

Okechukwu “OC” Ukeje wed Ibukun Togonu Bickerseth on Saturday November 8, 2014 in Lagos. Their traditional wedding – a fusion of the bride’s Yoruba and groom’s Igbo cultures held that morning in Yaba before the church blessing.

The Nollywood actor’s maroon blazer matched the bride’s silk rose bouquet. The couple has known each other for a while and only recently rekindled their romance, leading up to this special day. The bride lives in Toronto, Canada while the groom is based in Lagos.

The 2nd edition of the #YTech100 – a gathering aimed at celebrating the brightest and best in Nigeria’s technology space, held yesterday, Sunday 27th February 2015 at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island, Lagos.

This year’s event tagged “What’s Africa’s Next Wave?”, featured speeches from the CEO of Diamond Bank Plc, Uzoma Dozie and MD of Internet Solutions Ltd, Olusola Teniola.

An interesting segment of the event was a panel discussion session featuring the Marek Zmyslowski (MD, Jovago Nigeria), Obi Ejimofo (MD, Lamudi Nigeria) Nkem Uwaje (Founder, Futuresoft Nigeria) and Bankole Oluwafemi (Editor, Techcabal); who shared ideas on what Africa’s next wave in technology should be.

They included; Gbenga Sesan (Executive Director, Paradigm Initiative Nigeria), Jason Njoku (Co-Founder, Iroko TV), Bankole Cardoso (EasyTaxi Nigeria), Mark Essien (Founder, Hotels.ng), Seun Onigbinde (Budgit) and Opeyemi Awoyemi (Co-Founder, Jobberman).

The cocktail event was hosted by YNaija. Other partners include Laredo International and Blossom Bakers’ House.

The second edition of Gidi Culture Festival 2015 was a celebration of the fun city we know and love – Lagos, AKA Las Gidi. In the middle of Easter weekend – on Saturday April 4, 2015 at Eko Atlantic.

The fab launch of the Studio of Modé gallery and store held on Sunday, June 14, 2015 in Ikoyi, Lagos and the event was an opportunity for guests to mingle and take in the new store.

On arrival, guests were treated to complimentary glasses of Laurent-Perrier Champagne. Guests were able to purchase artwork and accessories including tote bags, greeting cards, t-shirts, iPad and laptop skins as well as mobile phone accessories on-site in the Studio of Mode store.

It was a true visual experience as upon entry into the gallery, visitors were promptly immersed in the vision the artist Mode Aderinokun conveys through the art and gallery space.

Mode dedicates the space to her late father, Olutayo Aderinokun, who was a patron of the arts, writer and an art enthusiast.
